Yankee & The Foreigners was formed by a group of friends attending Berklee College of Music, who got started by busking in the streets of Boston's Back Bay. The group initially found success performing a variety of songs in a folk style. One weekend while they were playing on Newbury Street, a promoter asked what their "band name" was and "Yankee & The Foreigners" was born in an instant. Though the name came quickly, Yankee took many months developing and honing their sound, wanting to retain the folk elements from their outset, but also hoping to incorporate a shared love for edgier sounds. Finding their personal blend of these two styles, Yankee established their creative stride. Yankee released their debut EP "Don't Wake Me Up" in August of 2015, and now plans to travel to England for the summer of 2016.
