We Were Once formed in February 2014 after solo artist Courtney Sapp, drummer Cliff Gore, and bassist Erin Burkhardt joined to play a battle of the bands. They shredded the battle and We Were Once was created. Courtney, Erin, and Zach Burkhardt all played on the worship team together at Bethany Church of God. Zach had heard what the bands plan and mission was and became their guitarist. Cliff and Courtney had played in several bands together and opened for national and global recording artists. We Were Once mission is to spread a light in the darkest places, leaving the church walls to witness through their music inspired by God and their personal testimonies. “God is the reason why we do what we do. We Were Once sinners without purpose and now we are forgiven through Christ” The name We Were Once comes from Ephesians 2:13 NKJV “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ”.
